Sula Chance

I was born in Trinidad in the West Indies and the life of the Caribbean is my theme, in representations of the colours, rhythyms and warmth of Trinidad's culture and landscape.

I want to communicate the wonder and happiness of a child's first impressions of life, and I paint in a naive style which, for me, is the best means of achieving the immediate connection of a childlike state in the viewer.

Amonst others, I have exhibited at:

  • President's Award, NAPA National Exhibition 2002, St. Ives
  • Platform for Art, Piccadilly Circus, London, 2002/2003
  • Featured on BBC1 TV, 30 June 2003
  • Featured on BBC Radio Solent, 4th July 2003
  • NAPA International Exhibition 2003, Florida, USA
