Susan Lishman

I believe my work strongly reflects my upbringing in Africa.

A love of pattern, texture and strong forms stems from my previous career in graphic design. Images change according to mood, but I have a passion for the colours and particularly the shapes found in nature and the sea.

My greatest influences from the art world are Mattise, Gauguin, Braque and Gaudi, though I also take inspiration from all manner of ethnic art. Though not a sculptor, I have created pedestals intended to compliment stone, wood or iron pieces. I treat the medium as 'paintings in the round'.

Last year I was elected a council member of the Society of Graphic Fine Art.

I have exhibited in London, Bath and St. Ives.
